Wonderwomen – Kelly Auty & Warren Wills, 7.30pm March 14 and 15, Apollo’s Pantry – free (Come at 6pm and participate in 2 of the show songs)
2018 certainly seems to be flying last at an accelerated rate.
A royal wedding. The passing of the greatest scientist since Isaac Newton and Einstein.. One minute the threat of war on the Korean Peninsula , and before you know it, a glimpse peace..endless woes of Brexit..a Russian, back to being arch villain, were they responsible for novichok nerve poisoning , Nets winning Eurovision contest and of course the World Cup in Russia and all the entertainment and political intrigue that will provide.
Meanwhile I’m thrilled to be working away in four diverse and wonderful projects.
KALEIDESCOPE is a genuine mad scramble of heightened creativity and youthful commitment and of course social inclusion.
This is a new piece we are are devising at ACU, AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY VICTORIA PARADE FITZROY with a totally diverse musical theatre company.
Loving the music and the singing of the company, I’m of course collaborator and musical director and Artistic director of the premiere of this wild, wonderful, witty and weird piece looking at a wide ranging of contemporary issues of social injustice.
The team of a Beth Rankin and her cohorts have been amazing. We even have some homeless people mingling amongst our ACU undergrads, and the stunning Czech violinist Romy.
Showtime june 1st, at noon and 6pm, yes, it’s a Friday at the address above. Do come. Tickets are absolutely free.
SUBVERSIVE, will be featured at the MISF, Melbourne International Singers Festival
Led by Jonathon Welch, this is a rich and culturally diverse extravaganza of singing.
Sprinkled amongst this will be the men’s group, MEN ALOUD.
It has been an absolute joy exploring themes with about 35 men each week and singing and acting our issues away. The material is strong and looks at issues concerning men from bullying, depression, PTSD, living with loss or cancer but done with a quip, a smile, a song and a dance in a totally inclusive way that is entertaining
funny and moving. We will be performing our new decided musical, set on a submarine and drawing from many personal experiences within the group, on the Queen’s Birthday Weekend June 9,10,11
September 5th and onto the next new piece after a short trip to London to see how family, friends and Blighty com get in this strange post Brexit world. Back and into GET INKED, a new musical with SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS, at Federation Square Deakin Edge. Again, what a pleasure to work with this seasoned choir of real characters fighting their own challenges and ups and downs of social issues. The TATTOO represents a stigma, a symbol , and thus w shave created a fictional society and a great set of songs and having huge fun in the process.
